Cate Huisman writes and edits web content, grant proposals, and evaluation reports for Edu. This fits well with her interests in writing and education.
For many years Cate worked for Outward Bound and related educational organizations as an instructor, course director, writer, and editor. She developed several programs for professional educators and a program for at-risk youth, as well as a mentoring program to pair college students with middle-school students who might otherwise not consider college.
Cate “retired” to writing and editing when she had young children at home. In this capacity she has written and/or edited policy papers, grant applications, staff manuals, newsletters, web content, numerous magazine articles and profiles, and over a hundred books in education and the social sciences.
She grew up in Portland, Oregon, and attended Princeton University and the Harvard Graduate School of Education. Her current home in Sandpoint, Idaho, is ideal for her to enjoy hiking, biking, and skiing. In her spare time, she warbles an indecisive tenor in the Pend Oreille Chorale and pursues various strategies for keeping moose out of her vegetable garden.
