Engineering for girls and ethnic-minority students

Tech City is a traveling museum exhibition. Hands-on exhibits in an interactive cityscape encourage middle-school girls and ethnic-minority children to become engineers.

Edu, Inc. served on the external-evaluation team. Front-end audience research recruited minority community leaders, children, and teachers who advised designers.

Formative evaluation helped designers test prototype exhibits. Focus groups evaluated signs, video, and computer interfaces. A summative study documented outcomes.

Tech City is a partnership between the Cornell University College of Engineering and the Sciencenter, a hands-on museum. The National Science Foundation provided funding.
